Meet Rachel

Vancouver-based singer, pianist, and songwriter Rachel Chiu creates music rooted in emotional honesty, intimacy, and self-discovery. Classically trained from a young age, Rachel’s musical path shifted in high school when she discovered jazz, opening the door to improvisation, experimentation, and a more personal form of self-expression.

Her voice reached a wide audience on Season 20 of American Idol, where Lionel Richie praised her for “bringing him back to the ’40s.” Drawing from her classical foundation and jazz sensibility, Rachel creates songs that feel timeless yet contemporary—balancing thoughtful songwriting with expressive vocals and a deep sense of musicality.

Rachel’s debut EP, To:, was released earlier this year, earning airplay on CBC’s Saturday Night Jazz and attracting international attention. Her music continues to evolve through a blend of intimate storytelling, lush vocal arrangements, and distinctive instrumentation.
